We are thrilled to announce that Andrew Belyea-Tate, Nuwan Dias, Marcel Delany, Matthew Harding, Ben Kelly and Beatrice Paull have joined List A Barristers following their successful completion of the Readers’ Course and admission to the Roll of the Victorian Bar.

Andrew Belyea-Tate
Before coming to the Bar, Andrew was an associate to the Honourable Chief Justice Gageler of the High Court of Australia and to the Honourable Justice Moshinsky of the Federal Court of Australia. He was previously a solicitor at Allens practising in commercial litigation, insolvency and corporate law.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (with Distinction) from the University of Oxford. He also graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) with First Class Honours as the second-placed student in his cohort, and with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) with First Class Honours and the University Medal. He was an Editor of the Monash University Law Review. He has taught Evidence and Constitutional Law at Monash University.

Nuwan Dias
Before coming to the Bar, Nuwan was a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution practice group at Herbert Smith Freehills. He was also an associate to Justice Kyrou of the Victorian Court of Appeal and Justice Anderson of the Federal Court of Australia.
During his seven years at Herbert Smith Freehills, Nuwan specialised in class actions and other complex commercial disputes. Nuwan was previously seconded to National Australia Bank. Nuwan has authored a number of publications on contract law. He is also the author of the third edition of Lewis & Kyrou’s Handy Hints on Legal Practice, which he authored with Justice Kyrou.
Nuwan has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) from the University of Melbourne. He also has a Master of Laws from Harvard University.
Nuwan is an experienced commercial litigator, with a focus on class actions, financial services litigation, insurance disputes and contract disputes across various sectors. You can view Nuwan’s professional profile here.
Marcel Delany
Marcel holds a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Asia Pacific Studies from the Australian National University (ANU), where he graduated first in his honours’ cohort and received the Supreme Court Prize. He also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from Oxford University, where he was awarded the Vinerian Scholarship for best overall performance.
Marcel commenced his career at Herbert Smith Freehills, and was associate to Justice Leeming of the New South Wales Court of Appeal in 2017-18. He managed the police and prison accountability team at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency and was a senior lawyer in the Office of General Counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor.
Marcel has also taught equity and trusts at ANU, and his publications have appeared in the Journal of Equity and the Australian Bar Review.

Matthew Harding
Matthew started his legal career at Allens, where he worked in the corporate/commercial and tax groups. He later joined the University of Melbourne, where he has taught a range of subjects including equity and trusts, property law, and torts. He was Dean of the Melbourne Law School from 2022 to 2024.
He is a member of the Law Council of Australia Charities Committee, the Council of the Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration, and the Australian Academy of Law. He is also a past chair of the Charity Law Association of Australia and New Zealand.
Matthew has Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts degrees (first class honours) from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Bachelor of Civil Law degree (with distinction) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oxford.
On joining the bar Matthew will practise in commercial and public law. He has particular expertise in equity and trusts and in the law and regulation of charities and other not-for-profit organisations. You can view Matthew’s professional profile here.
Ben Kelly
Ben was a solicitor for seven years, at Clayton Utz and then at the Northern Land Council. At Clayton Utz, Ben practised in commercial litigation and public law. At the Northern Land Council, he acted in native title litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and negotiated mining agreements and commercial leases.
Ben was an associate to Justice Claire Harris of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Justice Darryl Rangiah of the Federal Court of Australia. Ben has also lectured in torts at the University of Melbourne.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (with First Class Honours) from the Australian National University and a Master of Law (with First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge. He attended Cambridge on a 3VB Chambers Scholarship.
Ben practises in all areas of commercial and public law. In commercial law, he has particular experience in real property, equity and trusts, mining, and corporations law. In public law, Ben has a focus on administrative law and native title. You can view Ben’s professional profile here.
Beatrice Paull
Before coming to the Bar, Beatrice was an associate to the Hon Justice Steward at the High Court of Australia, and to the Hon Justice Moore and the Hon Justice Sloss at the Supreme Court of Victoria. She also worked at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office.
Beatrice holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts, both with First Class Honours, from Monash University.
She has taught Constitutional Law and Property Law at Monash University.
