Emma Murphy
Emma practises in general commercial litigation with a focus on consumer protection, contract and property disputes. Before coming to the Bar, she was a Senior Associate at Minter Ellison where she worked in commercial litigation for 13 years. Prior to that, she was Associate to Justice Kenny of the Federal Court of Australia. At Minter Ellison, Emma acted for a diverse range of private and government clients in a broad range of commercial disputes. She advised clients in the banking industry, tertiary education, retail and commercial leasing, and gaming. In that role, Emma provided legal and strategic advice to clients about claims (actual or potential) and likely exposure, and managed litigation for all clients at the interlocutory, trial and appellate levels, predominantly in the superior courts. Tim Chalke
Tim has 8 years’ experience in civil litigation and corporate regulation. Prior to coming to the Bar, Tim was an Associate in the Class Actions department of Maurice Blackburn where he practised in securities and cartel actions in the Supreme and Federal Courts. Previously, he worked in the Enforcement directorate of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. He was responsible for investigations of insider trading and market manipulation as well as conducting merits and judicial review proceedings on behalf of the Commission. He completed his articles and practised for a year at Nevin Lenne & Gross in North East Victoria where he gained experience in a broad range of commercial, property and leasing advice and litigation. He has a particular interest and expertise in class actions and corporations and securities law, particularly as they relate to the rights and obligations of shareholders. Tim holds undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law (both with Honours) and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. He received the prize for Class Actions in 2010. Timothy Goodwin
Tim Goodwin practises primarily in commercial and public law. Before coming to the Bar, Tim worked at Allens as a commercial litigation and banking & finance solicitor for three years. His practice included commercial arbitration, class actions, securities litigation, constitutional law and disability discrimination. Before joining Allens, Tim served as Associate to Justices North and Bromberg of the Federal Court of Australia. He also served as Foreign Law Clark to Justice Skweyiya of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Tim has a Bachelor of Arts and Laws (with Honours) from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. Tim is a member of the Yuin people of the South East Coast of New South Wales. He is a Board Member of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth and a Trustee of the Reichstein Foundation and the Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation.
