The Members and staff of List A Barristers warmly congratulate The Honourable Raymond Finkelstein AO QC on being appointed as Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia.
The citation noted that this was, “For distinguished service to the judiciary and to the law, to legal education as an academic, to jurisprudence in the fields of commercial and competition law, and to professional organisations”.
Ray was appointed a judge of the Federal Court in 1997 and held additional appointments as Deputy President of the Australian Competition Tribunal and the Copyright Tribunal of Australia. In December 2008 he was appointed President of the Australian Competition Tribunal. He retired as a judge of the Federal Court and President of the Competition Tribunal on 30 June 2011 and returned to practice at the Victorian Bar.
